Helping Homeless Pets During This Trying Time

Right now so many of us are feeling helpless and a bit unsure of what exactly to do. Here’s a way you can not just help a shelter animal but give yourself a sense of purpose.  COVID-19 isn’t stopping us!  We are still saving lives.  Our top priority is to maintain care and compassion for our homeless pets. While this is a financial and emotional strain on our staff and animals we will continue to provide a safe haven for the animals who need us!

Don’t quarantine alone!  Adopt a new fuzzy family member!  One of the best things about adopting a pet during this time is the extra time you have to bond with them.  Seriously what’s more relaxing than snuggling up with a cat who’s “motor is running” or more joyful than a happy dog wagging it’s whole body at just the sight of you? Animals are good for the soul! Don’t sit around worrying about toilet paper, we have some amazing animals just waiting to brighten your day!!

Not quite ready for the responsibility of owning a pet?  That’s okay, cause we need fosters!  Foster homes provide a temporary break from the shelter for our animals and you get all the benefits of having a pet without the longterm commitment.  Please consider contacting our office to be matched with a temporary foster animal.  With so many of us working from home with children out of school, why not open your heart and home to a dog or cat in need?  Be a hero!! Fostering saves lives!!

If you can not adopt or foster, it’s okay, there are other ways you can help.  Donate!  We are finding ourselves in uncharted territory where fundraising is concerned.  The Humane Society of Southeast Texas is a nonprofit charitable organization supported entirely by the generosity of our donors.  As you can imagine, we’ve had to cancel fundraising and adoption events that we depend on to fund our lifesaving programs. Programs that provide food, shelter, veterinary care, basic training & enrichment to all of the dogs and cats in our care.  Donations are so very needed and appreciated, especially right now!! We can’t do this without you!
