Peanut Butter Dog Treat Recipes
Did you know that March 1st is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day? We, humans, aren’t the only ones who love this creamy goodness. Our furry friends also enjoy this protein-packed spread! To celebrate in true fashion, we’ve found a few tasty recipes for your canine family member (and perhaps yourself – we won’t judge) to devour.
Note: Purchase peanut butter without sweeteners or xylitol, which can be toxic for dogs.
- 1 cup of coconut oil
- 1 cup of peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Melt the three ingredients together on the stove, pour into a mold or ice cube tray, and freeze until set. Pro tip: Store them in the fridge, as they melt quickly.
- 1 cup of oats
- 1/2 cup of peanut butter
- 1/3 cup of honey
- 1/3 cup of peanuts
Stir all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Chill for half an hour; once chilled, roll into 1-inch balls. Be sure to store these treats in the fridge.
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 whole egg
- 8 ounces peanut butter (unsweetened) 1/2 cup cold water
Mix ingredients together, adding water after other ingredients are mixed. Knead for 3 to 5 minutes (dough should form a ball). Then, roll to 1/2 inch thick and cut into doggie bone shapes. At 350 degrees, bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes.
