Spring Is Here, but So Is Puppy and Kitten Season!

Kitten season, the time when shelters are inundated with litters of kittens, typically runs from early spring through late fall; in warmer climes, such as Texas, kitten season can run through early winter.

Although most often known as kitten season, since cats can get pregnant even while nursing which results in more litters from cats than dogs, we still see a high number of pregnant, nursing, and orphaned puppies along with kittens.

When we have such a high number of animals being born on the streets we see more animals coming in with illnesses such as upper respiratory infection and ringworm.

Here are a few pictures of recent intakes, and there are a hundred more like this waiting to come in.
